Helichrysum is a flower potent with meaning. Also called 'Immortelle' because once dried, the small flowers last forever. They've been used ceremonially in ancient cultures from early recorded human history. Astrologically, Helichrysum is associated with the Sun (Helios) and Chiron.

Chiron is a small solar body orbiting between Saturn and Uranus. In Greek mythology, Chiron was a unique centaur - unlike the other violent, brutish centaurs. His body was especially unusual, making him an outcast. He was wise, curious, and caring. The gentle creature spent his life learning medicine and healing, thus became known as 'the wounded healer.' 

Immortelle has an impressive array of healing properties, but most striking is its usefulness in treating complicated afflictions. Deeper wounds seemingly unable to heal, such as PTSD, addiction, trauma, scars, and nightmares. To me, Helichrysum is Sun Energy bringing light to the pieces of us stuck in darkness. To remind us that the star-seed light that exists within us is, in fact, Immortelle.

Alexandra is a yogi and oil painter based in magical Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been teaching yoga for over 10 years, and continues fall more in love with the practice and instructing as time goes on. She co-owns Yoga East Austin in Texas with her husband, where they've successfully offered a diverse class schedule, hosted workshops, trainings, and retreats for 9 years.

As a true pisces, she's spent her life in a dreamy, emotional world of fantasy and feeling. She's been creating art from her dreams, archetypal figures, and life experiences, since she was a little girl. It is her hope to use artwork as a means to express her inner world, heal, and evoke emotion and inspiration from viewers.

She has a Master's Degree in Public Health from Bastyr University, a school for natural medicine just outside of Seattle. She has been interested in alternative health since she was a teenager.

If she's not bending or painting, you can find her hiking mountains, swimming, eating chocolate, loving her puppy, or watching Lord of the Rings for the millionth time.
